According to a list of "the most expensive painting" on Wikipedia, Rubens' Massacre is the 14th most expensive painting in history, having been bought at auction in 2002 for $76.7 million (which adjusted to today's market would be $96.1 million) by the late Canadian Business man Lord Kenneth Thompson.
It hangs in the Art Gallery of Ontario as part The Thompson Collection of European works of art. The Thompson Collection is one of the finest of its kind in private hands in the world, comprises some 900 objects, primarily northern European sculpture and decorative arts dating from the early Middle Ages to the mid 19th century.
